About DemandTec Retail Challenge
October 4, 2011 – The DemandTec Retail Challenge is a math scholarship competition for high school seniors. Students present math, science and business concepts through an online simulation, giving them a taste of how retailers and consumer product manufacturers make pricing, promotion and inventory decisions.
The competition will take place over 10 business days at the end of the month, with students accessing information each day and submitting new pricing and inventory decisions.
The top three regional teams will be chosen based on the profits achieved. The winning team from the Northland will receive a $5,000 scholarship from Maurices and move on to semifinals for additional scholarships. The top five teams advance to a championship round in New York, where they will compete and ring the NASDAQ closing bell in January.
